Maquinaria dvd cover by Nissun Maquinaria dvd cover by Nissun
Well. I haven't abandoned this place, after all. And I come back with another detail rich-empty in the concept work. But I had a great time thinking about a story for the "movie"

I'd rather design movie posters for imaginary films than do some cute cliched artwork just for the sake of beign cute. Right now I don't feel I can join the conceptual art world, but I would like to. Illustration is great, it's cool, but I don't want to be... "empty" forever.

Anyways. Maquinaria. Spanish for machinery. I liked the steam punk look this was taking, so I decided to keep it. I didn't want to think much about a title or a plot, so I simply decided to make a "movie" about a city that depends on machinery to survive. A very vague plot summary is written on the cover, but it's in spanish, and it's no really worth it.

Maybe I'll write this a a short story. The truth is that, if you think abou it twice, it's not a bad idea at all... Fantasy/scifi, yeah, but I think it could be quite original... If comebody is interesting in developing the concept I can always give some details and make it a collaboration. I wish I could do that with somebody: One writes the story, the other one designs the dvd cover xD

So, now my favorite part (I hate this, I hate this so much): listing all the stock. When internet is slow like a snail it can be really painful to wait for all pages to load and all that. So probably, for now on, I will make this part more simple, and just credit the author and where I used it, rather than leaving a link to the precise photo. I know, it's better to show how the photomanipulation was done, but some stockers have huge galleries and I can't search through them.

That's all. I have another three posters. I will upload them now.

Ahh, by the way, you see the drawing of a city in the background? I did it. I draw quite complicate cities in my free time. If some day I have the balls to paint one or make it look like more than a bunch of lines, I'll try and upload it.

Would you possibly do a mock-up for me. Because I've had this steam punk film noir saga I've been writing, and the city in the first book is half corroded debauched Baroque, and the other half is steam punk deco, like Bioshock and Metropolis.

It's inspired by ff7, the Black Parade, and The City Of Lost Children, and Once upon a time in Mexico, and...well I though that 'Maquinaria' was a real story...the eye sculpting for the cover gave me so many ideas...I couldn't believe it was just a fake cover for a movie.
I wanted to buy it online.

I'm russiantea87 and...

I'd be honored if you would actually draw my cover design: it's a punk-bernini deal. But honestly I'm willing to scrap if you have something better.
I want to do the back as a collage; a bunch of symbolic pictures of the character and main events for the synopsis.

Wait, this is fake? I've been wanting to buy this movie. Crap. (sigh)

Hey, would you like to design the first cover in my saga? It's called Niphalheim, and it's a steam punk film noir: it's inspired by The CIty of Lost Children, The Black Parade, Once upon a time in Mexico, Film noir, Alchemy, Fritzlang's Metropolis, and 'I brought you my bullets you brought me your love'.
I'd like you to keep the emblem if at all possible. The art work is a punk-baroque style.

Seriously, it would be phenomenal if you could do the cover.
